Effective and safe: no contradiction

Effective and safe: no contradiction

How we at Casa Cafaro handle essential oils so that they do good rather than harm

Essential oils are highly concentrated plant substances. That is exactly what makes them so effective. And exactly why they demand knowledge and care.

At Casa Cafaro we place the greatest value on quality and safety. Here we show how we put that into practice.

Pure oils, safe concentrations

We use only pure, tested essential oils in expertly balanced blends. Our products are not homeopathically diluted, but formulated in effective yet safe concentrations.

Checked by a chemist

As the law requires, we work with an experienced chemist. She checks our blends for safety and makes sure that the legal requirements of the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) and the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) are met.

Three applications, clearly separated

Diffuser blends. Finely balanced compositions that are dispersed as a mist. They create a pleasant atmosphere and a harmonious indoor climate.

Roll-ons. Pre-diluted blends for external use. They are formulated to be skin-friendly and safe. This avoids irritation, headaches or overdosing.

Candles. We work with rapeseed wax and cotton wicks, scented with pure essential oils, so that no unfavourable substances enter the air as the candle burns.

And taking them internally?

The oils we work with are so pure that some of them could even be ingested. Whether that makes sense, however, always depends on the plant, and not every one is suitable.

Our scent blends are made for the room and the skin. Ingestion is not intended.

Sensitive people, sensitive animals

Separate rules apply to pregnant women, babies, children and older people. This is not only about the oil itself. The dose and the type of contact are just as decisive: a scent that briefly floats through a room acts differently from an oil that goes on the skin every day.

That is why we do not work with rigid lists of prohibitions, but advise individually. For sensitive groups we deliberately avoid unsuitable oils and give clear instructions on every product.

Animals also react to essential oils. Cats are particularly sensitive, because their liver breaks down certain plant substances poorly.

Good habits in everyday life

  • Roll-ons only on healthy skin. Test on the inside of the elbow the first time.
  • Not in the eyes, on mucous membranes or on broken skin.
  • After citrus oils on the skin, stay out of direct sun for a few hours.
  • Run diffusers with pauses and air the room regularly.
  • As with all care products, keep out of the reach of children.

Safety as part of quality

For us, safety is not a box-ticking exercise. It belongs to quality just like the purity of an oil and the care taken in blending.

Frequently asked questions

What about staff or guests with allergies or asthma? We dose conservatively, do not scent every room and name every oil. This lets those affected ask in advance. Where necessary, we plan scent-free zones. Every client is individual and has different requirements. We respond to these needs.

Is scenting suitable for retirement and care homes? Yes, with particular care. Residents often cannot simply leave a room. That is why we scent especially gently there, preferably in communal areas, and coordinate closely with the care team.

Can a diffuser set off the smoke detector? Fine mist can trigger some smoke detectors. Diffusers therefore do not belong directly under or next to a detector. We plan the locations during set-up.
