Scent as quiet excellence

Every room smells of something.
With us, there is a reason.

Where aroma expertise meets the art of designing spaces.

We never look at scent in isolation, but in interplay with the space, the people in it and the effect it is meant to create.

Designing spaces consciously, down to the very last detail

We pay attention to materials, light, acoustics, origin and resources. We create spaces in which people are meant to feel at ease.

Only about the air we breathe do we ask remarkably few questions.

It is time to change that.

What conscious scent design creates for businesses

Scent can shape a space without pushing itself to the fore.

Used consciously, scent can help shape how a place is perceived, create recognition and make a company's identity tangible to the senses. What that means in practice depends on the place:

What matters is not to use as much scent as possible, but to understand what this place, this situation and the people in it need.

This is how scent becomes a consciously used design element, just like light, materials, acoustics or colour.

Our conscious approach.

We do not ask which of our scents you like. We ask what you really need.

  1. 01
    Where?

    Which place are we designing?

We look at the space, its surroundings, its use and its identity. The right scent grows out of the place, not the other way round.

  2. 02
    What?

What is the scent made of, and what of it do we want to breathe in?

For our compositions we work only with genuine essential oils. They are more than fragrances: origin, plant species, quality and composition shape character and perception. We choose them consciously and transparently.

  3. 03
    How much?

How much scent does this place really need?

Not every room has to smell of something all the time. We work deliberately with intensity, duration and scent-free phases, so that perception can renew itself and scent never becomes a permanent backdrop.

  4. 04
    What for?

What should the scent achieve here?

Calm, arrival, clarity, energy or recognition: we choose plants and scent profile to suit the desired atmosphere and the character of the place.

  5. 05
    For whom?

Who lives, works or lingers here?

We think not only of the guest, but of everyone who encounters the scent, for minutes or for many hours every day.

These answers never lead to an off-the-shelf scent.

We develop individual concepts and compositions, tuned to the place, its identity and the people who are meant to experience it.

There is no escaping scent.

In many public and professional spaces, people do not decide for themselves whether they want to be exposed to a scent. They work there, wait, sleep, travel or spend long periods in these rooms.

That is exactly why, for us, scent design also means responsibility.

Because scent is never neutral.

Chosen badly, used too intensely or permanently, it can be a burden for people and animals, especially when they cannot get away from it.

Good scent design takes more than a good nose.

Casa Cafaro combines in-depth knowledge of scent and aromatherapy with experience in how spaces, brands, products and customer experiences are designed.

That is why we never look at scent in isolation. We want to know how a space is used, who spends time in it, which effect is desired, which substances are used and how everything together fits the identity of a place.

Two perspectives that interlock

Hospitality meets naturopathy and aromatherapy.

I worked in hotels and restaurants for many years. There I learned how much atmosphere, hospitality and the many small details matter that make a stay special. I know what counts in the daily life of a business and how guests actually experience spaces.

Later I immersed myself in naturopathy and aromatherapy and deepened my knowledge of plants, essential oils, raw materials and scent compositions.

These are the two worlds I bring together at Casa Cafaro today.

Because a scent should not simply smell good. It has to suit the space, the business and the people who experience it. That is why we look closely: How is a space used? Which atmosphere should arise? And how can scent help a place to be experienced as a coherent whole?

What matters to us

  • High-quality, pure essential oils
  • Fully traceable raw materials: we know where they come from, how they are grown and processed, and what they are made of
  • Social and ecological responsibility in selecting our raw materials
  • Transparent, comprehensible formulations
  • Individual scent concepts instead of off-the-shelf solutions
  • Developed and made in Switzerland
  • Scent design that considers the space, its use and the people in it

Our ambition goes beyond simply scenting rooms.

We see scent as an effective design tool and consider not only its olfactory but also its physiological and chemical effect, always in interplay with the place and the people in it.

About us

Where could scent make a difference for you?

Every place is different. Every business has different needs. That is why our collaboration begins with a personal, non-binding conversation. We listen, ask the right questions and look together at the role scent could play for you.

At home, we have the choice.

Out in the world, we often cannot decide which scents, substances and influences we encounter. At home, we can. Here we decide for ourselves what surrounds us, what we breathe in and how much of it feels right. Our products therefore follow the same standard as our professional scent design: consciously chosen, transparently formulated and made with great care.

Why we think about scent differently

All articles

Good scent design combines effect, quality and responsibility.

With an understanding of the place, the people in it and the effect that should arise. For us, this also includes a conscious approach to health and ingredients. We select our raw materials carefully, know their origin and composition, and pay attention to how much scent makes sense for a room.
